今日は、英検やTOEICに出てくる単語、consideringとapplicationとavoidのイラスト付き単語帳を描きました。
最後の方にconsideringとapplicationとavoidの文法的説明やよく使われる言い回しについて書いたので、良かったら見てください(*^_^*)
considering（～ということを考慮すると）
I think we paid too much for the house, considering that we needed to get the roof repaired.
屋根を修理する必要があったことを考慮すると、家の購入額は高すぎたんじゃないだろうか。
application（申し込み）
The university welcomes applications from overseas students.
その大学は、海外の学生からの申し込みを歓迎している。
avoid（～を避ける）
I narrowly avoided an accident.
間一髪で事故を免れた。
consideringとapplicationとavoidの説明
considering
consideringは接続詞で、後ろにthat節やwh節が続きます。
１，that節
Sam is quick in his movements, considering that he is over seventy.
２，wh節
John did quite well in his exams, considering how little he studied.
application
- fill out an application (form)（申請書に記入する）
- make an application for admission（入学の申し込みをする）
- put in an application for a transfer（異動・転勤願いを出す）
- His application has been rejected.（拒否された）
- His application has been approved.（承認された）
動詞とセットで覚えると、実用できそうですね(^_^)v
avoid
avoidの後ろには-ing形が続き、不定詞は来ません。
○ They are able to avoid paying taxes.
× They are able to avoid to pay taxes.
